Day One: Celebrate Recovery Summit West

Hey there! This is just a quick post about what’s going on right now in my life. A few months ago I started planning on coming to the Summit with an amazing group of people from my CR. It truly seems like the planning stages of this trip just happened and now we’re here! I’m super excitedto be here for the first time!

If you’ve never heard of The Skit Guys, you are missing out on some great entertainment and biblical truth. Seeing them live is a whole new experience! Dr. Henry Cloud spoke today as well. There were some very unexpected things said during his time to speak that had everyone in a fit of laughter!

This is just a short blurb of what happened today. Hopefully I will get a chance to post a little bit each day.

If you’re here, how are you enjoying it?

New Direction

I’ve realized why I struggle to blog here.  I have this idea that I have to come all cleaned up and have some major revelation from God to share.

Not long ago I realized that I don’t have to do that. I don’t have to come to Jesus all cleaned up.  Why should Is show myself as that kind of person here, on my blog?

I’m not perfect. No one is perfect.  It’s time for me to start using this blog for that. It will mean being bold. It will mean trusting God with what I’m supposed to share.

God has called me to speak and I don’t want to put myself out there as some one I’m not.  I’m not perfect.  I have my struggles.  I’m seeing new struggles as I work through my past and how it relates to my future.  I believe that it’s time to stop hiding.

One With Them

If one part suffers, every part suffers with it; if one part is honored, every part rejoices with it.  – 1 Corinthians 12:26 (NIV)

Today, I found out about a ministry voicing support for Christians that face persecution for their beliefs.  The ministry is called One With Them, and is through Open Doors USA.

Can you take just a moment and imagine living in an area of the world where you are persecuted for your belief in Jesus?  In a place where you are not free to worship our Lord, but have to do so in secret? Or perhaps not allowed to worship Him at all?

Is that something that you don’t want to think about?

Thinking about hiding our beliefs isn’t always easy for us to understand.  We’re free to go to church.  We’re free to listen to Christian music.  We’re free to read the Bible just about anywhere we want to.  We are free to speak about our God.  Sure, there are places in America where we can’t always do these things, such as the workplace, but we still have the freedom.  Let us give praise for that!

I don’t know very much about the countries where these persecuted Christians live.  I don’t know what they face daily, what they struggle with.  This isn’t an area I’ve really explored.  What I do know is that it hurts to see people living for Christ, but having to do so secretly.  I can only offer prayer for those affected at this time.  If prayer is all I have, I will put my faith into know that prayer does work.
